Recovering the Kingdom’s Gems

As we saw in the previous blog, the king faced a terrible betrayal and went to see a wise sage for advice. The kingdom was weakened, and the precious jewels were stolen. What happened next after the king visited the sage? Did the king get the jewels back and restore his kingdom? Let’s find out what happens next.

Months passed, and the warriors changed a lot. Their training was no longer just routine; it was a constant effort to be excellent, driven by the desire to fix their past mistakes. The trainers, impressed by the warriors’ dedication, gave them fresh guidance.

The warriors knew they needed a smart plan to get back the stolen jewels. They worked hard to come up with a careful strategy. They met often to discuss their plan, making sure every detail was just right. Each decision was made with great care to ensure their success.

Finally, the important day arrived. The warriors were ready and determined. They had practised their skills and were well-prepared. They moved quickly and worked together to launch a well-coordinated attack on the kingdom that had defeated them.

Their plan was executed with great accuracy and teamwork. They worked together seamlessly, making sure everything went according to plan. As a result, they were able to get back the jewels. These jewels were not just valuable; they represented the strength and honour of their kingdom.

The True Nature of the Gems

Now, do you want to know what these gems truly were?

The two gems in the king’s story were awareness and discipline. The warriors in the story represent our five senses: seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and tasting. While the kingdom symbolises the soul. The outsiders who came to the kingdom represented laziness, procrastination, distraction, overindulgence, and other traits that weaken our focus and resolve.

In today’s world, these traits are like the devil. They are like a constant distraction for our five senses. For example, overeating (taste), binge-watching till late at night (sight) and spending too much time on social media (sight).

Have you ever been working, reading, or doing something productive, and then heard a notification sound from your phone? How many times have you found yourself opening a social media app to read a post on your feed, only to get caught up in a series of other posts, completely forgetting why you picked up your phone in the first place?

It happens so often, doesn’t it? You start scrolling through social media, checking updates on other people’s lives. But have you ever stopped to notice what’s going on in your mind during this time?

How do you feel? Do you really feel a fleeting sense of happiness? Or are you struck by feelings of lack or jealousy, wishing you had what others seem to have? It’s said that what you think and feel can attract similar experiences into your life. So, with these distractions and comparisons, what are you attracting?

Life has become so convenient with the internet, but this leads to constant distraction. Recent studies indicate that the average human attention span is only 8.25 seconds, which is 4.25 seconds less than it was in 2000!! This can divert us from our goals, making our dreams smaller until we eventually give up on them.

The excessive use of the Internet in an incorrect manner is making today’s generation weaker and without a clear purpose.

Moral of the Story

Reflect on this: the constant shift from doing something productive to endless scrolling can leave you feeling empty or discontented.

Pay attention to the moments when you find yourself mindlessly scrolling or feeling dissatisfied with your progress. Recognise these patterns and gently redirect your focus back to the present moment and your journey. Take time to reflect on what truly matters to you and how you can incorporate more of those elements into your daily life. This might mean setting boundaries and balancing things in your life.

Instead of focusing on what others have been doing, consider how you can direct your energy towards your personal growth and fulfilment. Remember, your thoughts and feelings have a profound impact on your reality, so it’s important to be mindful of them.

In our story, the gems of awareness and discipline are essential for maintaining a strong and victorious kingdom of the soul. Here’s how we can use these gems to train our five senses and keep our inner realm in peak condition:

Awareness: The Gem of Clarity

Awareness helps us stay mindful and present. By sharpening our awareness, we can train our senses to be more alert and focused. This means paying close attention to what we see, hear, smell, taste, and touch. For example:

Sight: Notice details around you, appreciate beauty, and be aware of visual distractions.

Hearing: Listen actively, and be mindful of the quality of sounds and conversations.

Smell: Pay attention to scents and how they affect your mood or memories.

Taste: Savour food and drinks, and be aware of flavours and their contribution to your well-being.

Touch: Feel textures and sensations, using this sense to ground yourself in the present moment.

Discipline: The Gem of Focus

Discipline keeps us committed and consistent. With discipline, we train our senses to avoid distractions and stay focused on our goals. This means developing habits and routines that support our purpose and well-being. For example:

Sight:

Limit screen time and negative visual stimuli

Create a clutter-free environment for better focus

Hearing:

Set noise boundaries and create quiet times for concentration

Avoid background distractions

Smell:

Use calming or invigorating scents to enhance your environment and productivity

Taste:

Follow a balanced diet that fuels body and mind

Avoid overindulgence and unhealthy eating habits

Touch:

Engage in physical activities like exercise or mindfulness practices to strengthen body and mind.
